There’s a quiet beauty to the sun peaking up from the horizon and bathing us in golden light. To me, the sunrise signifies the hope and potential for the new day.
With sunrise and sunset, we transition from light to dark each day. Over the course of several months, those sunrises and sunsets take us from season to season. I’m thankful for the extended summer we’ve had, but now, nature is finally transiting into dormancy and rest.
There have been so many gifts this season. Standing in my garden as the sun goes down and the shadows grow long, I am full of gratitude. I committed to my little herb farm this year and gave it all I could. It responded with fragrant herbs and flowers, bees and butterflies, and the great satisfaction of doing meaningful work.
The long winter ahead only makes me more thankful for the chance I’ve had to work in the soil and under the sun. It’ll take many months, but eventually the sun will again rise on my garden— on it’s herbs and flowers, and it’s bees and butterflies.
